Portable Vibrating Wire Dynamic Strain Acquisition Readout

Portable Vibrating Wire Dynamic Strain Acquisition Readout

Monitoring strain in the field usually means lugging around heavy gear and waiting for stable readings. This portable vibrating wire dynamic strain acquisition readout changes that. It’s built for engineers who need to check vibrating wire strain gauges quickly on site without sacrificing data quality. Kingmach put this unit together based on feedback from geotechnical monitoring projects where time and portability matter just as much as precision. The readout handles dynamic strain signals and gives you numbers you can work with right away. It’s straightforward to operate, battery‑powered, and rugged enough for typical construction or investigation conditions.

Technical Detail

Configured around process stability, mold life, and long-term uptime.

The device acquires dynamic strain readings from standard vibrating wire sensors, covering the frequency range most geotechnical instruments use. You get a clear display of strain, frequency, or period depending on what you prefer. It stores a batch of readings so you don’t need to jot everything down manually. Kingmach designed the interface with large buttons and a menu that’s easy to navigate even with gloves on. The housing is sealed against dust and splashes, which helps when you’re working in trenches or damp environments. The unit comes with a calibration certificate and a sturdy carrying case. Being a manufacturer focused on geotechnical instruments, Kingmach offers technical support directly from engineers who know the sensors you’re using. If your project requires a specific connector or reading protocol, customization is possible with reasonable lead times. The readout runs on standard rechargeable batteries that last a full working day.

FAQ

Common technical questions

Can this readout measure both static and dynamic strain?

It is designed primarily for dynamic strain acquisition from vibrating wire gauges, but it can also take static readings. You switch modes in the menu.

What sensor types does it work with?

It works with most standard vibrating wire strain gauges, load cells, and pressure transducers that output a frequency signal. If you have a less common sensor, provide the specs and Kingmach can check compatibility.

How is the data exported from the readout?

The unit stores data internally and can be transferred to a PC via USB. It exports in CSV format so you can open it directly in spreadsheet software.

Is it really portable? How much does it weigh?

It’s about the size of a small field notebook and weighs under 1.5 kg including the battery. It comes with a shoulder strap and a protective case.

We need to read sensors with a long cable run. Does distance affect the reading?

Cable length can introduce some signal attenuation. The readout has an excitation voltage setting to help with long cables, but if you’re working with cables over 500 meters, test it first or discuss with Kingmach support for possible signal conditioning.
