Getting clean, time-synchronized data from a mix of sensors scattered across a construction site usually means stacking signal conditioners, terminal blocks, and separate loggers. That setup eats panel space and creates too many points where wiring can loosen or corrode. Kingmach built its embedded central data acquisition host to strip that down to a single board-level device. It packs multi-channel analog inputs and digital buses like RS485 and CAN into one unit that can be dropped right into a control cabinet or a pole-mounted enclosure. VW, 4–20 mA, and Modbus devices all terminate here, with raw readings converted to engineering units locally. Because it works as a standalone node, you avoid running long analog cables back to a PLC. In slope monitoring or tunnel convergence jobs where maintenance access is limited, that small footprint matters more than rack-mounted options that need climate-controlled shelters. The host also handles scheduled sampling, local buffering when the network drops, and automatic catch-up uploads, so data gaps become rare. Its configuration is done through a web tool or simple commands, no proprietary dongles or special laptops necessary.

Kingmach approaches this device from a field-service perspective. The analog inputs accept standard geotechnical sensor outputs—vibrating wire pulse intervals, full-bridge strain, and voltage or current loops—while the digital side speaks common protocols that smart inclinometers, laser distos, and IP cameras use. It does not host its own display or keypad, because the idea is to embed it behind an existing panel or inside a remote box. A typical unit provides 8 or 16 analog channels, expandable through plug-in modules, with 24-bit ADC resolution that keeps μV-level changes visible. Sample rates are adjustable from seconds to hours, and timed snaps can coincide with ambient temperature or barometric readings taken from internal or external sensors. Power consumption sits low enough that a small solar panel and a gel battery can run it indefinitely, which is why several long-span bridge monitoring networks have adopted similar architectures. On the network side, it supports Ethernet, WiFi, or 4G, with MQTT or FTP push options. Offline storage usually covers 128 MB or more, enough for millions of timestamped records. Data export defaults to CSV or JSON, so parsing into third-party SCADA or cloud platform requires no converter middleware. Kingmach can preload customer-specific channel maps, engineering conversion factors, and alarm thresholds during production, and offers firmware customizations for applications like dynamic sampling on trigger events or synchronization with GNSS time servers. Common technical questions

Can this host handle vibrating wire sensors and Modbus devices together without manual switching?

The analog and digital sections run in parallel, so both types can be polled in the same scan cycle. You assign sensor types per channel in the configuration file, and the firmware automatically applies the correct excitation and measurement routine.

If the cell signal drops for a few hours, do we lose data?

No. The board stores readings with timestamps in non-volatile memory. Once the link is back, it sends the backlog as a batch. In continuous mode at hourly intervals, a standard memory capacity holds about three months of data, so a half-day outage is well within normal operating scope.

What does the deployment look like on the hardware side—do we need an external enclosure?

The board comes with mounting holes and connectors that fit standard DIN-rail cases or weatherproof junction boxes. Many integrators simply bolt it alongside other DIN modules inside an existing cabinet. Kingmach supplies a set of sealed cable glands and a pre-wired terminal guide for typical outdoor deployments.
